at College Square, Kolkata from 5:30-9:30 PM on 6th September--also called as the Prakalpana Day. The festival was inaugurated by Nabakumar Sil, the secretary of the little magazine editors guild with the traditional note of lighting brass lamps and chant of ancient Sanskrit mantra for global peace and harmony.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;">On this occasion retrospective issues of <em>Prakalpana SahityA/PrakalpanA LiteraturE</em> and <em>kOBISENa </em>along with the books <em>Antargata Barnamala </em>by Dilip Gupta and <em>Der Gonda Prakalpana</em></span><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;">by Nikhil Bhaumik were published.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;">The discourses and dissections that followed were presided over by Dilip Gupta, the prolific prakalpana-writer, who explained Chetanavyasism--the philosophy behind this Movement and read out a prakalpana. The chief Guest Dr.Jagannath Ghosh, himself a critic, crtitically appraised the Movement raising a few questions. Avijit Ghosh recalled at length his association with this movement and its initiator </span><span style="font-family:Arial;">Vattacharja Chandan, especially during the seventies of the last century. Pradip Chaudhury talked of delicacies of publishing Vattacharja Chandan's poems and the acceptance of his poems he has observed during Chandan's performances among non-Bengali-knowing audience outside Bengal. </span><span style="font-family:Arial;">Nikhil Bhaumik pointed out the difference of prakalpana with other conventional forms of writing. Vattacharja Chandan spoke on the past, present and future of the Movement from international perspective.</span><br /><br /><span style="font-family:Arial;">From among the poetry reading by scores of poets, Ramratan Mukhopadhyay, Nikhil Bhaumik, Utpal, Arunodoy Mukhopadhyay, Dolly Datta, Kalyan Mitra, Kalyan Bandyopadhyay, Goutam Mojumdar, Somnath Roy, Anita Ray's renderings impressed the audience. Babloo Raychoudhuri's sarbangin poetry</span> <span style="font-family:arial;">recital</span> <span style="font-family:arial;">was superb, while Vattacharja Chandan's performance was the characteristic of his dilute of chandan songs with poetry. Besides songs of poetry of some poets including that of Chandan was sung by the noted singer Rishin Mitra.
